ja tez nie lubie kompilacji, ale jednak nie winie az tak bardzo MK...
Oto co ma do powiedzenia na ten temat Terry Kilburn, czlowiek z otoczenia MK:

The market for this CD isn't the hardcore fan, its the casual listener, the guy who liked DS back in the 80s and who maybe bought one or two DS albums. Its also to remind guys like this that the man who wrote the songs, played the guitar and fronted the band is still around, still releasing great albums that maybe they should check out and buy, too. Now, Christmas is coming and he may see this new compilation in the shops and think to himself "yeah I remember DS, they were a great band I think I'll buy this CD". He likes it and he decides he'll buy some Mark Knopfler solo albums as well. This is an obvious marketing strategy.

Its very common for huge fans to be critical of a compilation album. Huge fans have all the releases and they can see there is nothing new here for them but they often fail to consider that the album is not primarily targeted at them. You have to remember that we are talking about the music business and this time of year is the peak time for compilations, you will see lots of them in the run up to Christmas.

So, if you are a hardcore fan who is a listener you may pass on this one. If you are also a hardcore collector, you'll add it to your collection anyway

Celem marketingowym tego CD nie jest zagorzaly fan, to przypadkowy sluchacz, gosc, ktoremu podobalo sie DS w latach 80-tych, ktory moze kupil jeden lub dwa albumy DS. Innym celem jest przypomnienie tego typu gosciom, ze czlowiek, ktory napisal tamte piosenki, gral w nich na gitarze i byl liderem grupy, jest wciaz obecny, wciaz wydaje wspaniale albumy i ze byc moze warto to sprawdzic i moze kupic ktorys... I tak nadchodzi Gwiazdka i byc moze ten gosc zobaczy nowa kompilacje w sklepach i pomysli sobie: "Tak, pamietam DS, to byl swietny zespol, chyba sobie nabede to CD", a przy okazji, pozniej zakupi moze albumy solowe Marka. To dosc oczywista strategia marketingowa.

Ci najwieksi fani zwykle krytykuja albumy kompilacyjne. Maja oni zazwyczaj wszystkie wydawnictwa i widza, ze nie ma tam nic nowego dla nich. Czesto jednak nie zdaja sobie sprawy, ze album niekoniecznie jest adresowany tylko do nich samych. Trzeba pamietac, ze rozmawiamy o biznesie muzycznym i okres swiateczny to wysyp tego typu wydawnictw, na pewno zobaczycie ich wiele w najblizszym czasie.

Tak wiec jesli jestes zagorzalym fanem, mozesz sobie ten zakup odpuscic. A jesli jestes przy tym kolekcjonerem, zapewne i tak dodasz go do swej kolekcji
