hehhe niezle o mixmanie plyty :
Oh no, not that Chucky Ainlay again!!!!
He's gonna spoil it all. Every recording that Knopfler has made with Chucky has had that added PCM-type piercing fatigue that comes from digital bouncing/sample-rate conversion processes. It has been a problem since the mid nineties with many Nashville-based engineers when they started using higher bit-rate/sample-rate equipment for recording and mastering. Somehow, somewhere in whatever digital devices Chucky is using in his studio, the integrity of the word clock has been highly compromised.
In contrast, every album from the first debut to On Every Street, that were made with Neil Dorfsman was warm, punchy and never, never have that characteristic sharp piercing sting. No other SACD that I have heard, except the Prisilla Chan SACD have had that problem either. I sold my copy of Prisilla in a hurry. I'm going to sell my copy of the Shangrila SACD soon.
