Załączam tłumaczenie "What It Is", które mnie męczy od kilku tygodni. Chciałem tam jeszcze trochę pozmieniać, ale już nie mam czasu.
What It Is / I tak to jest
(tłumaczył: chris)
The drinking dens are spilling out / Na miejski plac wylewa się
There's staggering in the square / zachwianym krokiem tłum radosny
There's lads and lasses falling about / Chłopcy, dziewczęta śmieją się
And a crackling in the air / W powietrzu słychać hałas głośny
Down around the dungeon doors / Za drzwiami lochów, kazamatów
The shelters and the queues / Wokół kolejek zgromadzonych
Everybody's looking for / Każdy rozgląda za kimś się
Somebody's arms to fall into / Paść chciałby prosto mu w ramiona
That's what it is / I tak to jest
It's what it is now / Tak to właśnie jest
There's frost on the graves and the monuments / Groby, pomniki pokrył szron
But the taverns are warm in town / lecz z miejskich tawern ciepło bije
People curse the government / A ludzie przeklinają rząd
And shovel hot food down / Gorące jadło pałaszują
Lights are out in the city hall / Wygasły światła już w ratuszu
The castle and the keep / na zamku i na donżonie
The moon shines down upon it all / Księżyc poświaty rzuca snop
The legless and asleep / na ściętych winem i uśpionych
And it's cold on the tollgate / Przez skute chłodem bramy miasta
With the wagons creeping through / wtaczają się leniwie wozy
Cold on the tollgate / Mroźno dziś na rogatkach
God knows what I could do with you / Bóg jeden wie, co mógłbym z tobą robić
That's what it is / I tak to jest
It's what it is now / Tak to właśnie jest
The garrison sleeps in the citadel / Garnizon zasnął w cytadeli
With the ghosts and the ancient stones / z widmami, głazami z przeszłości
High on the parapet / Wysoko na parapecie
A Scottish piper stands alone / dudziarz samotny gości
And high on the wind / A wiatr z wysoka niesie
The highland drums begin to roll / odgłos bębenków szkockich
And something from the past just comes / I przeszłość powraca znienacka
And stares into my soul / I w duszę zagląda mi mocno
And it's cold on the tollgate / Przez skute chłodem bramy miasta
with the Caledonian blues / kaledońskiego słychać bluesa tony
Cold on the tollgate / Mroźno dziś na rogatkach
God knows what I could do with you / Bóg jeden wie, co mógłbym z tobą robić
That's what it is / I tak to jest
It's what it is now / Tak to właśnie jest
What it is / Tak to jest
It's what it is now / Tak to właśnie jest
There's a chink of light, there's a burning wick / Na wieży płonący ogarek
There's a lantern in the tower / strużkę światła z latarni toczy
Wee Willie Winkie with a candlestick / Ze świecą Nocny Marek
Still writing songs in the wee wee hours / wciąż pisze swe piosnki północy
On Charlotte Street I take / Z hotelu na Charlotte Street
a walking stick from my hotel / wychodzę wspierając się laską
The ghost of Dirty Dick / A duch Brudnego Dicka
Is still in search of Little Nell / Wciąż małej Nell szuka dziarsko
That's what it is / I tak to jest
It's what it is now / Tak to właśnie jest
It's what it is / Tak to jest
What it is now. / Tak to właśnie jest
What It Is / I tak to jest
